With less than 30 days left until its second release window, People Can Fly’s upcoming Sci-Fi RPG, Outriders, has been delayed yet again. In a tweet posted on January 6th, they’ve made it apparent that the game would be served best after a little more time in the oven.
With the less-than-perfect launches of several highly anticipated games from the last few years, it really doesn’t come as much of a shock that Outriders would follow suit. A few weeks ago, there was an Xbox Insider preview made available to those in the Insider Program that a vast majority of users (myself included) had difficulty even getting to launch. This left many hopefuls to turn skeptical of how far the game was along developmentally, which now seems like a key point in this decision.
The announcement doesn’t come without its silver lining. On February 25th, there will be a playable demo available on all platforms for everyone to try out. They’ve also stated that any progress made in the demo would carry over to the game’s full release when it launches on April 1, 2021. It has yet to be determined whether the demo will have crossplay functionality, but we will update when or if that information is made available.
