Let the hype continue. We saw at E3 the highly anticipated Bioware game Mass Effect Andromeda. The release day may or may not have been potentially leaked back in June. We saw on Amazon that the date is March 31, 2017; however, this may just be a placeholder date as well. Regardless, this game is going to be one of the must haves for 2017. Here are some of the things you may have missed.
Mass Effect trailer that was released in June.
So, for all those fans out there that want to know what’s new, here is what you can expect in the new features.
• More Freedom: One of our biggest ambitions is to give players an unprecedented level of freedom for a Mass Effect experience –where you’ll go, how you’ll get there, and how you’ll play.
• New Uncharted Worlds: We’re leaving the Milky Way behind and headed to Andromeda, where we’ll meet new allies, confront new enemies, and explore fascinating new worlds.
• The Next Great Mass Effect Experience: Mass Effect: Andromeda will be the first Mass Effect game for today’s consoles and the first built on the Frostbite engine. We’re pushing the technology to deliver visuals, story, and gameplay that have never been done in franchise history.
Oh and did we mention jet packs?
No more Shepard. Yes it is true, we won’t have the Commander or his team running around saving the galaxy this go around. This time we will be frontiersmen. Explorers. And we are headed to Andromeda galaxy that is made up of approximately a trillion stars, and is about 2.5 million light years from Earth. Rumors have it that this play space is roughly 3x the size of the galaxy we got in Mass Effect 3. Let that sink in for a minute.
We also know that we are going to be a part of the A.R.K.C.O.N. Pathfinder Initiative. It is said we will be a pathfinder type protagonist by the name “Ryder” who is tasked with attempting to set up or find a new home for humanity. This will take us into Andromeda, which is far removed from the grip of the Reapers in Mass Effect 3. We will encounter new aliens, blow things up I’m sure, and help establish new colonies around the new worlds we will be exploring.
The New Mako And New Ship
It looks like exploring will be the emphasis of this new game. Along with that comes an upgrade and better suited Mako. If any of you played Mass Effect 1 you either loved the Mako or hated it. Word from Bioware is that they have upgraded it and made it much more user friendly. We also saw a brand new sparkly ship in the E3 reveal video.
“We’re shooting for a lot more diversity in terms of the planet types, in terms of the types of experiences you can have on these worlds,” said producer Mike Gamble during a Bioware livestream. “The Mako is important to us, and how we represent the Mako and that exploration experience.
Hopefully soon we will get another updated trailer and more information as release day approaches. I expect we’ll see some tasty morsels come N7 Day, at least. I cannot wait to get back into the Mass Effect world to begin exploring and building those relationships again with my travel companions. So, I leave you some awesome Andromeda art and the official E3 trailer.
When in doubt, blow it up!
