This week’s Madden 20 matchup is the Ravens (4-2) at the Seahawks (5-1). Both teams have gotten off to great starts due to the great quarterback play. Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is off to his best season so far and has yet to throw an interception. Lamar Jackson is one of the most electric quarterbacks in the league due to his ability to take off running. Two quarterbacks will be fun to watch this week.
Last Week
Last week’s simulation was one of the more interesting ones that I have run this season. The simulation correctly picked the Packers to win based on the number of simulations they won but had the Lions coming out ahead in most offensive categories. So it was expected to be a close game and it was. The Packers pulled off a late win, with a little help from the refs, which is in line with what Madden predicted.
For the writers’ picks, Darklife, Und3rdog10, and I all correctly picked the Packers. Mulehorn117 had his second consecutive miss. Will that trend continue?
How the Ravens Won
Simply put the Ravens won with their rushing offense. In their wins, they rushed for 165 yards per game. They also scored a lot of points in their wins averaging over 33 points per game. It didn’t really matter what the Seahawks did as long as the Ravens scored at least 27 points. Out of the 20 games simulated, there was only one where they scored 27 or more points and lost. The Ravens will rely on Lamar Jackson to run the offense and run it well.
How the Seahawks Won
The Seahawks won when they slowed down the Ravens potent offense. If their defense was able to hold the Ravens to 20 or fewer points, they had a good chance of winning. They also needed their rushing game to be working for them. If Russell Wilson was forced to throw the ball, they were in trouble. They only won one of the shootouts they got themselves into.
And the winner is…the Ravens!
The Ravens won 75% of the games I simulated and held the advantage in most categories I tracked. The only category the Seahawks lead was in average passing yards, which is to be expected since Lamar Jackson runs the ball a lot and creates plays with his feet. This ended up being a lot more lopsided than I expected, although the difference between the average points scored was only about 3 points per game.
Writer Picks
Being a huge Seahawks fan it is no surprise that Mulehorn117 picked them to win this week. Und3rdog10 also went with the Seahawks predicting that they will win it 30-27 with their running game. He also thinks Wilson will have his worst game of the season. Darklife went with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens while Snakedoctor98 picked the Falcons…
As much as I don’t want to, I think I am going with the Seahawks. Wilson has been playing too well and I think they will be too much for the Ravens to handle.
