Lightfall – Interview with Ben Archer of Bishop Games

Interviews

On this episode of Nindies and Indies, ScrapGear and Draco Augustus get an interview with Ben Archer, one of the co founders of Bishop Games and creators of the new indie game Lightfall.

Lightfall is a two-dimensional side-scrolling platformer where you are Knox, a child deity trying to figure out what’s behind the sinister happenings in the mystical world of Numbra. The story is surprisingly compelling, and the collectibles bring even more depth to the narrative. I was lucky enough to play Lightfall on the Nintendo Switch and the game is an excellent fit on the console. Its simplicity in controls and graphics, while still having a competitive aspect through the speed run mode, works well in the hand held configuration.

In this episode, Ben tells us what it’s like to be an indie developer and how it feels to have Bishop Games’ first title release on the Nintendo Switch. He also gives us some insight on future updates to the game that should be solving some common player complaints.

Check out Nindies and Indies if you want to hear other interviews, like with the developers of Mulaka and Darkside Detective. Join us and nerd out with the Nindies and Indies crew about upcoming Nintendo news and games. Also be sure to read our review of Lightfall here.

August (a.k.a. Draco Augustus) is a dad gamer who loves sharing all of his geeky passions with his family, from Marty McFly to Mario and Master Chief. He is also the co host of the Nindies and Indies podcast and founder of the Houston Switch Club. #GoStros
