Ever since the Xbox Showcase at E3, it seems that everyone is wanting to know more about Halo: Infinite. Thanks to the people at 343 Industries, we have been given another look at Inside Infinite. For those of you who don’t know, Inside Infinite is a monthly deep dive into Halo: Infinite via blog posts. This series is super detailed and really informs us future Halo players about the inner workings of the group.
Season Pass, Always Here For You
This month’s post begins with the Live Team discussing the newly announced Season Pass, and what their main focuses are. The Live Team believes in four key pillars that will help them in designing their game. If a design is brought to the table that doesn’t meet these four values, then they go back to the drawing board/rework it. Here are the four pillars: Healthy engagement, player-first focus, provide unambiguous value, and the team will always be listening, learning, and experimenting. These key ideals will help make Halo Infinite a better live service game.
So, what does this mean for the Season Pass itself? Well, if you have been paying attention to the Master Chief Collection, then you may already have an idea. Basically, the Master Chief Collection Battle Pass design will be brought over for Halo: Infinite. In the Master Chief Collection, any progress you make towards leveling up your Battle Pass can be used on the current season. However, you may opt to level up a previous Season’s Battle Pass if you’d prefer. For Halo Infinite, this means that the Battle Passes will always be available to you after you have purchased them. There is no longer a sense of urgency to complete your Battle Pass. Once you have purchased the pass, it is yours to keep until you complete it.
Continuing through the blog post, we get a little more detail about what all can be earned. So as of now, each season is planned to be quarterly. Also, each season will have a Free Battle Pass as well as a Paid Battle Pass. New cosmetics, new game types, and even events will be featured during these seasons. Experimenting with each passing season will help keep the game feeling fresh and fun.
Halo Waypoint, Showing You The Goods
The Halo Waypoint experience has been around for a few years. Now, however, the application has been tweaked with a new focus in mind: how to give veteran Halo players value, while welcoming newcomers. Halo Waypoint will be your one-stop shop to get the information that you will need. And, it has been focused on each platform. So, whether you are on a mobile device, a tablet, or your PC, each version has been tailor-made for that platform.
The companion app focuses on things nearest to gameplay. While the goal is to keep all users in mind, the mobile app is more focused on those who like to stay connected and engaged while playing and after gaming.
Also, the team has developed the app with support for Halo Infinite, Halo 5: Guardians, and the Master Chief Collection. They state that they have plans to experiment with some social features down the road, so be ready for more goodies even after launch. The blog post really dives into the Halo Waypoint features, so be sure to read over it if you want full detail of it.
Looks Like You Need a Weapon
It looks like Master Chief will be sharing the spotlight with a very special Spartan. Yep, that Spartan is you! Though Joseph Staten(Head of Creative for Halo Infinite) stated that Master Chief is the “heart of Halo”, he addresses us at the end of this blog post to say that the players are also the heart. Some of us have been playing since 2001, while newer Spartans will be donning the armor for the first time this year. No matter what, they want us to have a voice.
While Mr. Staten doesn’t dive deep into it, he does state that our multiplayer character will be given a vital, active role in the Halo story moving forward. Though, it may just be through Seasonal content, or perhaps something more. Either way, we will be learning all this together, in the future, when 343 is ready for us too. “Heroes of Reach” will be the first season, and it makes sense. Reach is a key location for Spartans, as they trained there to become the heroes the Earth and her colonies needed them to be. Our Spartans will be preparing to battle with the galaxy, so what better way for those old and new to come together and train to become those heroes.
Halo is near and dear to my heart, so having more information about the latest installment has me excited! Stay tuned right here at MHG to give all the latest information about Halo news, as well as other games! Remember, blow it up!
