Bandai Namco Announces Blue Protocol

With the gaming industry going full-steam ahead on games as a service and online social interaction, Bandai Namco announced their entry into the ring on Friday, June 28, 2019, with a new action-RPG called Blue Protocol. The game is being developed by Project Sky Blue, a hybrid group of developers from Bandai Namco Online and Bandai Namco Studios. Blue Protocol is set in a “world on the brink of devastation” where players “march on with friends and strangers, and defeat foes beyond your might”.

While little is known about Blue Protocol, the one screenshot in the press release shows a vibrant, anime-inspired world and characters with futuristic weapons. The game is being developed using Unreal Engine 4 for PC.

With games like Destiny 2 and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 hitting their strides in 2019, other PC MMOs living beyond peoples’ lifetime expectations and Japan’s biggest online MMORPG (Phantasy Star Online 2) coming to Western Markets in 2020 it’ll be interesting where Blue Protocol will find a place in the gaming world.
