Astral Chain on Nintendo Switch

Articles News

If you are looking for a super anime cyber noir action game you have come to the right place. Astral Chain, the new Nintendo Switch exclusive title by Platinum Games, is out now and ready to entertain. From high intensity super natural brawls to endearing goofy police dog mascots, Astral Chain keeps you linked into the action and bound to the story. (Chain puns)

Story

As the self-made character you chose from a set of twins, the male or female, who you get to name and customize to your liking, unlocking even more options as the game progresses. The other twin is a supporting character throughout the campaign as a fellow Neuron Officer. Neuron is a special division of the police force who have learned to use Legions in battle. A legion is a supernatural being from the astral plane that was once a creature called a chimera. The chimera started opening wormholes between reality and the astral plane grabbing humans to “chimerafy” after a meteorite hit Earth leaving it uninhabitable aside from the last man-made island called the Ark, where what was left of humanity found refuge. I know this sounds like a lot of information to take in but with some of the same minds behind Bayonetta and Devil May Cry behind the wheel, Astral Chain delivers the action consistently with a fluidity that keeps you hooked.

Game Play

Using your astral chain and a psychic link you learn to control your legion and fight along side it as well as to solve platforming puzzles and challenges. From tracking down clues and gathering information to wrapping up your opponents and performing sync attacks, the variability of learning to use your legions is essential in Astral Chain. Luckily you have plenty of training opportunities in the game but contrasting the games chaotic battles, the controls are fairly simple and easy to pick up on performing satisfying combos. There are investigative portions of the game where you must use clues you discover to help figure out what kind of threat you are dealing with and where you might find it.

Overall

Overall I’m not gonna lie. This game is hot stuff. The reviews are in so if my opinion is the last thing between you and going out and getting a copy of Astral Chain right now. Do it. You won’t be disappointed. This is definitely a game you don’t want to miss on the Nintendo Switch.
